Festival Concert "Sounds from 1000 years"

As part of the consecration festival a festive concert under the direction of cathedral organist Michael Schönheit will take you on a journey through 1000 years of cathedral history. From the Middle Ages through the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods to contemporary music, Merseburg Cathedral has witnessed significant musical developments. Today, the magnificent Ladegast organ is known everywhere for its outstanding sound. In addition to the splendour of past eras, the concert also points to the future. A composition by Steffen Schleiermacher (*1960) will be premiered at the concert.
