Music in the Cathedral
In numerous concerts, the magnificent Ladegast organ in Merseburg Cathedral shows why it can be called the “Queen of Instruments”. With its 5687 pipes, the Baroque organ rebuilt by Friedrich Ladegast is one of the largest and most beautiful-sounding Romantic organs in Central Germany. Every second Saturday at 12 o’clock from May to October, the concert series Orgelklang 12 (Organ Sound 12) takes places. Visitors only need a valid cathedral admission ticket to get to listen to 40 minutes of organ music. Other unique musical experiences are guaranteed in the series Merseburger DomMusik, which program spans from Ladegast organ concerts and symphonies to chamber concerts in the cloister. Every year in September, the Merseburger Orgeltage (Merseburg Organ Days) are also held.
