Organ family concert on 20 September 2025 in Merseburg Cathedral
Immerse yourself in Baroque Venice and experience a musical journey through time to St Mark's Square! In our interactive family concert, Merseburg Cathedral is transformed into the lively Café Michèle, where the charming waiter Malte meets famous composers. Meet Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi in person and learn in a playful way how Bach transcribed Vivaldi's Italian violin concertos for the organ.
The children of class 4 at Johannes Schule will guide you through the story with colourful costumes, Venetian masks and lively choreography. Listen to the magnificent organ sounds of Bach's arrangements of the Vivaldi concertos BWV 592, 593 and 596, played by organist Lukas Pohle. Experience how St Mark's Square comes alive with pigeons, tourists and Vivaldi's famous girls' orchestra.
An entertaining and educational concert for the whole family that brings classical music to life in a completely new way - just in time for World Children's Day!
