Paul Kundt was one of Merseburg's best-known journalists and chroniclers of the 20th century. He is the author of the "Merscheborcher Babeleien" and is still known as "Baul von der Soale". His diary entries from the GDR era are kept in the archives of Merseburg Cathedral and provide a unique insight into the life of a politically aware Merseburg resident. From the late 1940s until well into the 1980s, Kundt noted down all major and minor events in and around Merseburg with a sharp pen.
A reading from the diaries entitled "Von Dom und Schloss zu Merseburg" (Of Merseburg Cathedral and Castle) was due to take place in January. The head of the Merseburg Cathedral Abbey Archive, Markus Cottin, and Kim Ludwig, an employee of the University and State Libraries of Saxony-Anhalt, who have been working on the diaries for a long time, have now recorded an online reading without further ado. You can listen to the reading here retrieve.
