It's almost time: the countdown to the consecration weekend from 1-3 October has begun. One of the highlights of the celebrations will be the grand procession to Merseburg Cathedral followed by the consecration of the bells on 1 October. We are also looking forward to welcoming numerous "little bishops" to this colourful procession, who have already designed their own mitre as part of the school project "The bishop's festive clothes". For all children who have not yet been able to take part, we have put together a Craft instructions - so you can be part of the festive procession with your own bishop's mitre!
You will need the following materials:
- Template printed in A3 (white or coloured)
- Scissors
- Jewellery ribbon and stones
- Glue
- Colourful pens
- Rubber band
Print our Mitre template on coloured or white A3 paper.

Cut out the mitre along the black line.

Now you can paint the basic shape of the mitre in the desired colour and decorate it with colourful pens and decorative ribbons or stones.

Then take a hole punch and make a hole at the bottom of each side, as shown. Thread the elastic band through here so that you can wear your mitre securely on your head.

We hope you enjoy making your stately mitre!
