On 14 June 2025 at 19:00, Merseburg Cathedral invites you to an extraordinary concert in the High Choir to mark the 275th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's death with a musical tribute to the great Baroque composer. The concert will take place in the impressive acoustics of the cathedral and will enchant visitors with a unique journey through the history of music.

The audience can expect a fascinating programme from the musicians Katharina Dargel (viola), Klara Hornig (piano) and Daniel Zaretsky (organ), which combines Bach with the work of the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). The evening will be a journey through two worlds: the baroque clarity and complexity of Bach and the emotional density and modern tension of Shostakovich.

The solemn atmosphere of the High Choir in Merseburg Cathedral and the impressive acoustics of this historic venue provide the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary concert, which honours the music of two of the greatest composers in the history of music.

Experience the evening concert to mark the 275th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's death with Katharina Dargel (viola), Klara Hornig (piano) and Daniel Zaretsky (organ) and let yourself be enchanted by the timeless beauty of Bach and the modern power of Shostakovich in the unique atmosphere of Merseburg Cathedral.
