Lunchtime concerts featuring works by Hungarian musicians

The lunchtime concerts in Merseburg Cathedral offer a musical interlude for all generations at midday. The programme is aimed at both upper secondary school pupils and all organ enthusiasts. Organists will perform works from the rich Hungarian musical tradition, allowing the cathedral organ to shine with its diverse tonal colours.

The programme will be hosted by Alex Huth, known from the children's channel and various presenting roles in the region. The concerts thus combine cultural education for pupils and all music lovers with a special auditory experience in the historic space of the cathedral.

With László Fassang in Merseburg one of the internationally renowned Hungarian organists of the present day can be experienced. He studied at the Liszt Academy Budapest and am Paris Conservatoire, where he was trained in both organ playing and improvisation. He gained international recognition, among other things, with the Gold Medal for Improvisation in Calgary (2002) as well as with the Grand Prix and the Audience Award at the competition in Chartres (2004).

Today Fassang works as a teacher at the Liszt Academy Budapest and am Paris Conservatoire. At the same time, he has been closely involved for many years Müpa Budapest connected: He was involved in the conception of the concert hall organ there and has been significantly responsible for and shaped the house's organ concerts since 2006. As such, he represents an artistic personality who combines virtuoso playing, stylistic openness, and the art of improvisation in a unique way.
