Mersburg Cathedral regularly invites to celebratory motets with various choirs from Central Germany.
On 14 December 2024, the Stadtsingechor zu Halle will be a guest in Merseburg Cathedral.
The roots of the Stadtsingechor zu Halle go back to the year 1116, when the Augustinian canons' monastery Neuwerk was founded just outside the city. Clemens Flämig has been the choir director since 2014. The choir is still at home in the Francke Foundations. Under municipal sponsorship, around 90 active singers and 30 aspiring singers sing as cultural and educational ambassadors for Halle. The choir's work centres on sacred music, in particular works from the Central German musical tradition. The Stadtsingechor gives around 30 concerts and performances a year in Halle, the region, Germany and abroad.
