Twice a year, Merseburg Cathedral opens its doors and gates for the "Open Day for Merseburgers". All residents of Merseburg and the incorporated villages are invited to visit the cathedral and cathedral treasury free of charge on 1 November 2025 between 10 am and 4 pm. The prerequisite for free admission is the presentation of an identity card or proof of residence.

If you would like to take part in a public guided tour of the cathedral, you can do so at 11.00 am and 1.00 pm for 3.00 euros. The cathedral can also be explored individually with an audio guide for a fee of 1.00 euro.

The KinderDomusMerseburch is also looking forward to welcoming lots of young cathedral visitors and invites them to take part in a treasure hunt through Merseburg Cathedral and a craft activity in the cloister (for a small contribution towards costs). Families can also take a tour of the tower between 12 noon and 4 p.m. and climb up the impressive roof truss past the ringing bells to the viewing platform of the south-west tower (cost: €5 for adults, €1.50 for schoolchildren).
