A final royal visit in 1302 by King Albrecht I symbolised the end of the Palatinate of Merseburg. At the expense of the Roman-German kings, the Merseburg bishops were able to expand their possessions in the Merseburg region. In July, the year1000 treasures show important foundations for the jurisdiction and administration of that time: the Sachsenspiegel manuscript, an important legal text that functioned like a basic law in Saxony, as well as a seal stamp that was used to fulfil the everyday administrative tasks of the cathedral chapter.
