In April, the Jahr1000 treasures reach the splendour of the Baroque court culture. In 1657, Duke Christian I became the first prince of the Saxe-Merseburg secondary dynasty and carried out numerous remodelling measures in the cathedral. The main altar, the princely crypt and the baroque organ façade are the most impressive examples of this period. In addition, the year 1000 treasures, an ornate Last Supper relief and a magnificently designed seal capsule, tell of the relationship between the secondary dynasty and the Electorate of Saxony.
