"Geweiht für die Ewigkeit"

On 1 October 1021 the Merseburg Cathedral was consecrated in the presence of the imperial couple Henry II and Cunigunde. After the laying of the foundation stone in 1015 and a building phase of only 6 years, Merseburg was gifted one of the most significant cathedrals in Germany: the Merseburg Imperial Cathedral. On the occasion of its consecration 1,000 years ago, the Vereinigte Domstifter are holding a whole year of celebration under the motto "Geweiht für die Ewigkeit" ("consecrated for eternity"). A year of exhibitions, exclusive tours, concerts and other events awaits visitors in Merseburg.

A homepage has been created for the anniversary year where you can find out about all exhibition projects, events and news regarding the celebrations: www.merseburger-domweihe.de
